Enjoying the Downtime on a Team USA Day Off

There is a certain buzz in the air around our team this morning. With the day off today, we can process and enjoy our first three victories of the tournament, taking a little time to soak it in.

Australia was a force to be reckoned with, challenging us with their tough play and competitiveness. While there is still room for improvement, we're excited about the 18-9 result. Using Coach Ricky Fried's analogy, our bus is gaining momentum.

Following the game, we suffered through a round of ice baths to help our bodies recover (think Polar Bear Plunge for ten minutes, by choice). We then made our way back to the dorms to shower and change for dinner. US Lacrosse thoughtfully organized a BBQ with all of our friends, family, and fans right here at Durham College where we are staying.

The delicious spread included grilled salmon and chicken, asparagus and potatoes, and fruit and salad. The team's favorite part was splurging on the cheesecake and cookies after our big victory! The guest of honor was defender Kristen (aka Cookie) Carr's family husky, Tala. She proved to be the most athletic in the family, with Cookie following in close second. She also was the most patriotic fan with her red, white and blue bandana.

Today we head into Toronto for a bit of sight-seeing and relaxation. On the agenda is a visit to the famed CN Tower and dinner in the Distillery Region. The team is looking forward to getting out and exploring the city!
