Dowling Receives Rings, Starts Practice

It's been nearly eight months since the Dowling men's lacrosse team won the Division II national championship in Foxborough, but the members of that squad finally received a permanent memento from the occasion. On Jan. 24, the team and staff received their national championship rings in a ceremony held at Timber Point Country Club in Great River, N.Y.

Each player received the ring from athletic director Rick Cole and head coach Tim Boyle. Also on hand were trustee member Gerald Curtin and interim president Elana Zoffo.

The Jan. 24 date also coincided with the first day of practice for the Golden Lions. They open their defense of the rings on Feb. 23 when they travel to Gaffney, S.C., for a title game rematch with Limestone.

Nearly eight months after he played the hero, Vito DeMola '12 (left) still couldn't wipe the smile off his face. Nor could head coach Tim Boyle (right).
