Morning Jac: Busiest Day of the Week

Other than the weekends, of course, the busiest day of the week for small college fans is on Wednesday. While there are a handful of contests on Tuesday and a couple more on Friday, Hump Day is where the action is.

Today, for instance, there are 42 games in both NCAA Division II and Division III (there's a ton of women's games, as well). Some Division I teams try to get in on the action -- there are four big boy games, including contests featuring Johns Hopkins (against Manhattan) and Cornell (Canisius) -- and there are four MCLA contests, but today it's primarily about the NCAA junior circuits.

Because many of the teams haven't moved into their conference schedule, there aren't a whole lot of marquee games today, but there are a few that spur my interest.

No. 8 Adelphi travels to No. 4 Dowling for an important game for both of those programs if they harbor postseason aspirations. No. 11 Hampden-Sydney will get a test on the road from No. 20 Cabrini. The Cavs are still searching for their first win after narrow losses to No. 8 Haverford and No. 9 Lynchburg, and upending the Tigers would be a nice pick up.

No. 5 Roanoke will play a pesky Ursinus team that could give the Maroons problems. Lynchburg, No. 13 Dickinson, No. 15 Stevens and No. 17 Nazareth all participate in non-conference games that they should win.

Another team looking for its first win along with Cabrini is NYIT, which has fallen out of the Division II Top 10. The Bears have lost to No. 6 Merrimack and Mercy, and now will have to host a tough Southern New Hampshire team that made Dowling sweat over the weekend. A win would go a long way to righting the ship.

- The Mankato State men's lacrosse team is in the midst of a SoCal spring break and, while the Mavericks are 0-1 after losing to USC, they did receive a bit of good news. The team attended a filming of "The Price is Right" and sophomore middie Alex Paradis was called up on stage after nailing the closest bid. Paradis' luck continued, as he won his competition – and $1,200 worth of cosmetic supplies. Mankato plays Loyola Marymount this afternoon.

Best & Worst
Best Thing About Today: It would appear that there will actually be a game played in Central Maine this afternoon.

Worst Thing About Today: I thought spring had sprung, but I awoke to four inches of heavy snow in the driveway. It's still coming down as we move into the afternoon. Drag.
