Fun Trip to Coach's New Jersey Home Turf

Hey guys, this week was another great week with the squad in coach Flynn's stomping grounds of Parsippany, N.J. We were hosted at Mountain Lakes High School where we had all of our practices and the exhibition against a group of New Jersey all-stars on Sunday afternoon.

The exhibition was encouraging, as we came out fired up and showed major improvements from two weekends ago in Philadelphia. Our execution and energy were two major factors that allowed us to come out on top, 9-4, when the game was stopped after only three quarters due to approaching storms.

Our goal is to improve every time we are on the field together. I think we did a good job making that a priority and accomplishing it after our small setback last weekend.

As we are together more often, nicknames are becoming a constant in our interaction with one another. Just about every person on the team has one nickname or more, but some are better than others. Personally, my favorite nickname on the team is my man Joey Leonard, who goes by "Lenny." Another good nickname is for Tyler Barbarich, who goes by "Barbie". There are many more names, but I think it's safe to say none can top these two.

On Saturday night, the Barbarichs were kind enough to host us at their home for a team BBQ. Our whole team had a great time, as we were able to relax and enjoy a meal with our teammates and some of their families. The entire night was great, but some of the highlights were definitely playing FIFA on a projector in the backyard and swimming in the pool. While in the pool, an intense game of sharks and minnows broke out with Sean Mahon, Rob Zoppo, Ryan Tucker, and the two of us. We all had a blast thanks to the great hospitality of the Barbarichs.

I also failed to mention that this was our second BBQ we attended as a team. The Raffas also hosted us for a great night at their home during the weekend we spent on Long Island, so a special belated thanks to their family as well.

We all can't wait to finish up training camp this weekend at Bryant University and head to Finland to begin competition. We'll check in soon to keep you updated on how the World Games are going, and our team's quest for the gold.
