from press release

– Junior goalkeeper Travis Love (Winters Mill H.S./Westminster, Md.) and freshman midfielder Matt Thomas (Urbana H.S./Monrovia, Md.) of Towson University have been named as the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 11, it has been announced by CAA officials.

It is the first time either player has been honored by the CAA in their careers.

Love stopped 56.8 per cent of the shots he faced and allowed 8.0 goals per game as the Tigers extended their win streak to three straight games with victories over UMBC and seventh-ranked Massachusetts last week. After he made 11 saves in the Tigers' 10-7 victory over the Retrievers on Wednesday night, he had ten saves in the Tigers' 10-9 upset win over the Minutemen on Saturday.

Love ranks second in the CAA with a .583 save percentage while his 9.06 goals against average ranks third in the CAA.

"Travis is seeing the ball well and making some big saves for us," Towson Coach Tony Seaman said. "He has become one of our leaders on the defensive end of the field."

Thomas won 60.0 per cent of his face-offs in the Tigers' two wins last week and contributed seven ground balls. He won 9 of 14 face-offs with four ground balls in the win over UMBC on Wednesday night before a 9-for-16 effort at the face-off 'X' against Massachusetts on Saturday while adding three ground balls.

Thomas ranks eighth in the CAA with a .507 face-off percentage and is second in the CAA with a 4.44 ground ball per game average.

"Matt's dedication and hard work are paying off for him," Coach Seaman said. "He has improved as the season has gone on and he won some big face-offs for us last week."

Now 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the CAA, the Tigers will begin a two-game homestand on Saturday night when they host seventh-ranked Drexel at Johnny Unitas® Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
