Air Force Rolls Over Michigan at DU Classic

DENVER - Putting together a 9-0 run in the opening half, the Air Force lacrosse team rolled to a 15-6 victory over Michigan Sunday at the DU Face-Off Classic, held at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Freshman Keith Dreyer (Malvern, Pa.) tallied a game-high seven points, registering three goals and four assists, to help lead the Falcons to their first win of the season. Junior Pat Harrison (Annapolis, Md.) scored five points, including a career-high four goals, while sophomore Erik Smith (Golden, Colo.) added a career-best five assists.
Michigan (0-4) scored the first three goals of the game before Air Force got on the bord with a man-up goal from Mike Crampton (So., Kinnelon, N.J.) with 4:23 remaining in the opening period. The Falcons added another score just over a minute later to go into the second period with a 3-2 deficit.
Freshman Ryland De Pol (Riva, Md.) tied the score for the Falcons with another man-up score just over three minutes into the second period, sparking a run of six Air Force goals in six minutes. The Wolverines registered the last two scores of the quarter, as the Falcons went into the half with a 9-5 advantage.
Air Force scored the only two goals of the third quarter and pushed their advantage to 13-5 with a pair of scores in the first two minutes of the final stanza. Michigan was able to find the back of the net once more, but the Falcons registered two more man-up goals to take the nine-goal victory.
The Falcons remained perfect on the EMO this season, scoring four goals on four man-up opportunities, while holding the Wolverines scoreless on three extra-man chances. Air Force also outshot Michigan, 37-25, for the game, and won 14-of-25 face-offs.
