Frosh Miller Nets Five as Denver Beats Ohio State

from Press Release

DENVER - The No. 8/9 University of Denver men's lacrosse team was led by a career performance from freshman Zach Miller (Steamburg, N.Y.) in its 9-5 win over Ohio State at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday afternoon in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,500 fans. Miller finished with a career-high five goals to go along with two assists for a career-high seven points.

"This was a great team win for us today," said head coach Bill Tierney. "Even though Zach scored a majority of our goals, it took our entire offense to come together to get him those open looks. Our defense really stepped up big, helping out Ryan and Jamie in goal today. For a team to play three games in a week and also secure three wins over two top-10 teams during that stretch is a huge feat."

Freshman Tyler Pace (Mission, B.C.) finished with two goals, while senior captain Jeremy Noble (Orangeville, Ontario) netted one goal and two assists for three points. Also scoring for the Pioneers was junior Erik Adamson (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) with one goal, while junior Wesley Berg (Coquitlam, B.C.) tallied one assist.

Sophomore Joe Bano (Dublin, Ohio) won 9-of-16 face-offs, while also grabbing a game-high four ground balls.
