In-Game: Albany vs. No. 6 Notre Dame (NCAA Quarterfinals)

by Joe Pantorno | | Twitter | May Madness Home

An instant-classic saw Albany and notre Dame battle back and forth for all four quarters at Hofstra University, with the Fighting Irish striking last on a Matt Kavanangh overtime game-winner to advance to the NCAA semifinals. Notre Dame had jumped to a 4-0 lead, but Albany went on a 12-3 run to lead by five in the fourth before the Irish battled back to knot the game at the end of regulation.

Miles Thompson finished tied for the all-time single-season NCAA goals record, while brother Lyle tied the all-time single-season NCAA assists record and both broke the single-season points record (Lyle finished with more, but they are 1-2 in the record books). We'll have plenty more from this thriller on Long Island later on
