Le Moyne Men Announce Schedule, Captains

from press release

Le Moyne College head men's lacrosse coach Dan Sheehan announced his 2010 schedule and team captains on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

The Dolphins, who finished the 2009 season with a 16-1 record and their fourth consecutive appearance in the National Championship game, have 13 games scheduled on their slate in 2010. Three of Le Moyne's 13 opponents were ranked in the top-10 of the final 2009 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches' Poll.

Le Moyne, which returns 24 letterwinners and four starters, opens the season against Mars Hill on Sunday, Feb. 28 in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Lions, who the Dolphins will be playing for the first time, finished the 2009 season receiving votes in the USILA poll with an 11-4 record. The Dolphins then square off against a pair of teams from the South Region at neutral sites. Le Moyne travels to Severna Park, Md. to face #6 Limestone on March 7, before playing Catawba in Lakeland, Fla. on March 11.

Le Moyne opens Northeast-10 Conference play with four contests, three of which are at home, over the final 11 days of March. The Dolphins host conference-newcomer Adelphi on Saturday, March 20, Pace on Wednesday the 24th and Assumption on Saturday the 27th before closing out the month at American International on Monday the 29th.

The Dolphins open April at Saint Michael’s on Friday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. The Dolphins return home to face #5 Merrimack, who the Dolphins defeated three times last season, on Saturday, April 10. Le Moyne defeated Merrimack, 5-4, in the regular season, 10-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship game and 15-5 in the NCAA Semifinals. The Dolphins then travel to #8 Bentley on Saturday, April 17 and Franklin Pierce on Monday, April 19. Le Moyne completes its schedule with back-to-back games against teams from Manchester N.H. The Dolphins host Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, April 24 and wrap-up the regular season at Saint Anselm on Saturday, May 1.

Sullivan, who started four of 16 games played last year, picked up 11 ground balls and caused seven turnovers. Venditti, who started all 17 games last season, tallied a career-best 20 goals and handed out 14 assists for 34 total points, the fourth-highest total on the team.
