After being left out of a three-way mix last year, Ian Wild (above) and Mercyhurst will compete for the national championship this year.

Le Moyne will not get a chance to play in its sixth consecutive NCAA Division II men's lacrosse championship game.

The NCAA selection committee has ended the Dolphins' run, choosing Adelphi to represent the North region in the four-team tournament, which begins May 21.

The Panthers, who ended the season with a 15-2 record and a win the Northeast-10 championship game, will face Limestone (15-1) in one of the two semifinals.

The two teams did not meet during the regular season.

Le Moyne, which finished with a 12-2 record, was ranked No. 1 in the latest USILA weekly poll and beat Adelphi head-to-head in the regular season, was knocked out of the NE-10 tournament by Merrimack in the semifinals.

In the other semifinal, East Coast Conference rivals Mercyhurst and C.W. Post will square off with a trip to the national title game on the line.

The Pioneers were credited with the Central region bid, while the Lakers enter the tournament as the "wild card," which is the best remaining team among the three regions.

It will be a rematch of an April 9 game played in Brookville, where C.W. Post defeated the Lakers, 4-3, in a defensive struggle.

The rematch will also be played on May 21, the winner advancing to the NCAA Division II championship game May 29 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
