Limestone Pushes In-Region Win Streak to 34

–Limestone senior attack Shayne Jackson, a 2012 Tewaaraton Award Watch nominee, scored a game high five points on three goals and two assists while sophomore defensemen Anthony Starnino (Rochester, N.Y.) forced a game high four caused turnovers in leading No.3 Saints past Florida Southern, 14-4, on Saturday, February 18 in a NCAA Division II South Region showdown at "The Rock" extending the Saints' in-region win streak to 34 games.

Jackson (Bowmanville, Ontario), who has totaled 14 points after two games (4G, 10A), was one of nine different Limestone players scoring a goal and one of four with multiple tallies. Senior Jackson Decker (Port Moody, British Columbia) and junior Corey Rich (Sacramento, Calif.) each had two goals and one assist while junior Zach Cummings (Crownsville, Md.) added a pair of scores and a fourth midfielder, senior Desi Gonzalez (Massapequa, N.Y.), totaled three points (1G, 2A) that in addition to sophomore attack Todd Nakasuji (Ajax, Ontario) who contributed two assists and was one of the 10 players in the scoring column.

Limestone, which was plus-18 in shots, saw 28 of its 37 shots get on goal.

Defensively, the Saints were credited with 18 caused turnovers, 13 more than that of Florida Southern. Limestone also went a perfect 5-for-5 in man-down situations including a two-man down one minute situation in the second quarter not allowing a Mocs shot. In addition Starnino, fellow senior defenseman Steve Sauser (Pasadena, Md.) had three caused turnovers while Josh Wharton (Pasadena, Md.) led the team with five ground balls.

Between the pipes senior Steve Gartelman (Seaford, N.Y.) moved to 2-0 stopping six shots (3GAA) in 56:06 of action.

Florida Southern was led by Kevin Naslonski, a midfielder, who scored twice while fellow sophomore midfielder Dan Krispinsky had a game high seven groundballs and three caused turnovers. In goal, senior Andrew Almansberger made 14 saves (14GAA).

Limestone returns to action on Wednesday, February 22 hosting Lees-McRae in its 2012 Conference Carolinas opener with the faceoff set for 3:30 at "The Rock".
