Cabrini Continues Gauntlet with Roanoke

RADNOR, Pa. - The No. 8 Cabrini men's lacrosse team returns to Edith Robb Dixon Field Saturday, March 21 for a 1 p.m. face-off against No. 4 Roanoke College. The Maroons are the fourth nationally ranked opponents on the Cavaliers schedule this season and second consecutive.
Cabrini dropped just its second game of the 2009 season March 18 at No. 18 Gettysburg College. Junior attackman Casey Grugan posted four points on two goals and two assists in the loss. Senior defenseman Jeff Moore scooped a team-high six groundballs, moving into first-place all-time on the Cavaliers' career list.
Senior attackman Scott Reimer tallied one point on one goal. Reimer is just three points shy of becoming the second Cabrini men's lacrosse player to reach the 200-point plateau.
Senior face-off specialist Mike Dolente tallied 15-of-22 draw victories against the Bullets. Dolente entered the game against Gettysburg ranked 12th nationally, winning 71.9 percent of his face-off attempts through five games.
The Cavaliers have proven to be a tough draw on their home turf in the last three season. Since the 2007 season, Cabrini owns a 20-3 record all-time at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Dating back to last year, the Blue & White has won 10 straight games on its own turf.
Roanoke College
Roanoke has raced to an 8-0 overall start, scoring 20-plus goals in six games.  The Maroons list fourth nationally in points per game (32.29), scoring offense (20.43) and scoring margin (+11.86). Roanoke opened the 2009 season ranked No. 9 by the USILA.

Head coach Bill Pilat is in his 21st season with the Maroons in 2009. Pilat owns a 207-101 career record, reaching the 200-win plateau with a 20-7 season-opening victory against York College February 21. He returned Roanoke to the NCAA Quarterfinal for the third straight season in 2008.
The Maroons' offense, led by junior attackman Matt Quinton, boasts 11 players with at least 10 points through eight games. Quinton leads the charge, tallying 39 points on 30 goals and nine assists.
Senior attackman Zach Thomas has posted 27 points on 15 goals and team-high 12 helpers. Freshman midfielder Jeff Keating has contributed 24 points on 18 goals and six assists.
The Roanoke face-off unit lists eighth nationally, winning more than 69 percent of its draws. Sophomore specialist Greg Khanzadian owns a .692 win percentage in the X, claiming 74-of-107 draw victories. Sophomore Justin Tuma has recorded 54-of-82 face-off wins.
Junior goalkeeper Jake Dorsey has started all eight for the Maroons in the cage, posting 77 saves, an 8.88 goals-against average and a .602 saves percentage.
Roanoke and the Cavaliers have split two previous meetings. Cabrini emerged victorious in the last outing, a 10-9 win to start the 2008 season.
