from press releases

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The 17th-ranked Endicott men's lacrosse team led by as many as five goals in the fourth quarter and held off a furious rally to defeat 12th-ranked Bowdoin, 10-9, on Wednesday evening at Ryan Field. The Gulls improve to 9-2 overall this year while the Polar Bears drop their second-straight one-goal decision and fall to 7-3.

Endicott controlled the ball for much of the opening half and took a 4-2 lead at the break thanks to a pair of goals each from Dan Cain and Nick Cosco. The Gulls quickly pushed their lead to five goals after intermission as Eddie O'Reilly, Brad Lipkvich and Jack Curtis found the back of the net, making it 7-2.

The Polar Bears quickly replied with a pair of goals from Eric Thompson and a Mark Flibotte tally to trim the lead to 7-5, but Endicott capped the frantic period with a man-up score from Brandon Dube to give the visitors an 8-5 lead heading into the fourth.

Dube and O'Reilly scored to open the final frame and give Endicott a seemingly insurmountable 10-5 lead with just 6:24 remaining. Bowdoin replied with a furious rally over the final moments, scoring four times in less than a four-minute span, including a pair of goals from Cullen Winkler, who scored with just 58 seconds remaining to close the gap to 10-9. The Polar Bears could not get off a shot with under 10 seconds remaining, however, as Endicott clung to victory.

Jake McCampbell made 10 saves in the loss for Bowdoin while Eric Hagerty stopped seven shots in the win for Endicott. Endicott held a 33-32 edge in shots overall as the teams combined for just three penalties on the night. Bryan Holden and Ben York had six ground balls apiece for the Polar Bears while Adrien Peacock had four for Endicott. Winkler led all
scorers with three goals for Bowdoin while Dube and Cain led the Gulls with two goals and an assist apiece.
