TROY, N.Y. - The 18th-ranked St. Lawrence men's lacrosse team outscored Rensselaer 8-0 over a span of 38:14 on its way to an 11-5 win at Harkness Field. With the win, the Saints improve to 9-2 overall (5-0 Liberty League), while the Red Hawks fall to 5-7 (3-2 Liberty).

After Rensselaer took a brief 4-3 lead with 12:46 to play in the first half, St. Lawrence ran off eight consecutive tallies, before Red Hawks' junior Brett Evans (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) was able to find the back of the net with 1:53 remaining in the game.

Saints freshman Caldwell Rohrbach (Seattle, WA/Garfield) recorded three of those goals, including the first with 6:49 left in the opening half which tied the game at 4-4.

John Allen (Amherst, NY/Amherst) put St. Lawrence up 5-4 with 3:11 left in the half, before Caldwell netted the eventual game-winner with just over a minute to go. The Saints held a 6-4 advantage at the break, despite being out-shot 17-15 over the first 30 minutes.

In the second, neither team found the scoresheet until nearly 10 minutes in, when Rohrbach and senior midfielder Peter Carroll (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) scored goals less than two minutes apart to give the visitors an 8-4 lead.

St. Lawrence then got three goals in the fourth quarter, before Evans was able to net the Red Hawks final tally.

Pacing the Saints offensively was senior midfielder Alex Slauson (Shelburne, VT/Champlain Valley Union) who had three goals and an assist for four points. Rohrbach had three goals, while Allen finished with two goals and an assist.

Rensselaer was led by senior attack Josh Secora (Evergreen, CO/Golden) who finished with two goals and an assist for three points. Evans had two goals and freshman Andrew Miller (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) recorded two assists.

Saints senior netminder Thomas Hollingsworth (Wilton, CT/Wilton) earned the win between the pipes, making seven saves. Senior Ryan DeJordy (Albany, NY/Columbia) had 10 stops at the other end of the field.

The Red Hawks are back in action next Saturday, when they visit area-rival Union in their Liberty League regular season finale (7pm). St. Lawrence visits Cortland State for a non-league game on Thursday (4pm).
