Lebanon Valley's Lanigan Earns Honor

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Freshman defender Ryan Lanigan has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for his play on in Lebanon Valley's season opener on Saturday. Lanigan is the first player in program history to earn a weekly award.

Lanigan scored twice and had an assist in his collegiate debut, and also caused five turnovers and scooped seven ground balls in LVC's season-opening win against Mount Saint Mary College. The longpole got all of his points in a 1:34 span to end the first half, rumbling in for a goal before feeding for Malik Pedroso, then scoring off the ensuing face-off with 10 seconds left.

LVC continues its 2011 season Wednesday at Centenary.
