from press release

– Despite Freshman attack Rob Santangelo's 2 goal and 2 assist effort, the Dutchmen fall just short in a thrilling six overtime matchup against Connecticut College at the University of Georgetown's campus.

Connecticut College's sophomore midfielder Mike Giambanco was able to seal the win for Connecticut after successfully scoring an un-assisted goal twenty four seconds into the sixth overtime of the game.

Senior Midfielder Mark Mangano led the Connecticut Camels with four goals in the contest.

Sophomore attack Robert Young (Ithaca, NY), senior midfielder Derek Mayer (, junior midfielder Ethan Meyer (Brewster, NY), sophomore midfielder Peter Griesinger (Winchester, MA), and sophomore midfielder Joe Cordrey (Summit, NJ) were also able to score during the game.

The Dutchmen got off to a fast start with an opening goal from Griesinger at 9:20. Santangelo then scored the next goal for Union at 6:17 to give the Dutchmen a 2-0 lead over the Camels just over half way through the first period.

After a 3-3 tie at the end of the first period of play, the Dutchmen again got off to a fast paced start to open the second period. Meyer started the scoring for the second period with a goal at 11:41 and then Young shortly after followed Meyer's goal with a goal of his own at 10:25. However, the Connecticut Camels went on their second streak of 3 un-answered goals of the game to give them a one point advantage half way into the third period. Derek Mayer then closed out the third period with a goal at 8:27 to tie the game at six a piece entering the fourth period of play.

Approximately half way through the fourth period Santangelo added his second goal of the day at 7:41. Connecticut's Greg Demetriou then scored at 4:45 to even the score at seven.

After five hard fought overtimes, both teams then entered to play a sixth overtime with the score still even at seven. The sixth and last overtime did not last long, Connecticut's Giambanco scored the game winning goal just twenty four seconds into the last overtime to give the Camels the victory.

Union's next opponent will be Ithaca College on April 2nd at Ithaca, NY.
