Colorado College's Christman Honored by SCAC as Player of Week

from press release

– Junior attackman Carson Christman was named Offensive Player of the Week by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for the second time this season after leading Colorado College to victories over Oglethorpe University and Birmingham-Southern College last weekend.

Christman scored five goals and added 10 assists to help the Tigers secure the top seed for the upcoming conference tournament and clinch at least a share of their second consecutive regular-season title.

A native of Simsbury, Conn., Christman found the net four times and set personal single-game highs with seven assists and 11 points during the 28-0 victory against Oglethorpe. With a share of first place on the line against Birmingham-Southern on Sunday, he scored once and set up three other goals in the 9-5 victory over the Panthers.

Christman, the SCAC's reigning Offensive Player of the Year, leads Colorado College with 27 assists and 52 points and is tied for first with 25 goals. He has collected at least three points in every game this season.

This marks the third time that a CC player has earned the league's weekly offensive award in 2011. Junior attacker Moses Taylor was recognized last week. Three other Tigers – senior defender Zach Hoisington, senior midfielder Buck McKenna, and freshman goalie Zach Steedman – have won the defensive honor.

Colorado College, which is 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the league, plays host to Hendrix College on Friday night.
