Phelps Added to Marywood Staff

from press release

– Jeremy Phelps has been named Marywood University's assistant men's lacrosse coach according to an announcement made today by Head Coach Scott Dalgliesh. Phelps most recently served as an assistant coach at Guilford College for the 2011 season and was the Lacrosse Director at Bridgton Sports Camp this past summer. Additionally, Dalgliesh announced that 2011 Marywood graduate Anthony Tuscai will serve as a volunteer assistant coach this season.

During his tenure at Guildford, Phelps assisted coaches Tom Carmean and Nate Bates with all aspects of the programs including both offensive and defensive strategies, extra-man attack and defense, as well as with recruiting, scouting, and running the substitution box. Additionally, Phelps served as the team's primary face-off coach.

After the 2011 season, Phelps was responsible for building a first year lacrosse program at Bridgton Sports Camp where he worked with campers to improve all aspects of their game. Prior to joining Guildford's staff, Phelps was a coach with the IMG Lacrosse Academy, served as the Head Junior Varsity Coach at Ardrey Kell High School, and was a goalkeeper coach at Fort Mill High School.

Phelps earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management in August 2010 from Winthrop College where he was a three-year team captain as a player.

Tuscai joins Marywood's coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach after completing a four-year playing career for the Pacers in which he appeared in 57 games and helped the team post a 41-24 overall record in the programs first-four seasons at the varsity level. The team also went 20-6 in conference play and earned to CSAC runner-up finishes and earned a berth in the 2011 ECAC Tournament.

Tuscai, who will assist in all aspects of coaching and will run the substitution box on game days, finished his career with 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 points as a midfielder while adding 63 groundballs and seven caused turnovers. Tuscai's five-assist performance in a win over Wells College in April of 2009 stands tied as Marywood single-game program record.
