Brockport Mourns Passing of Fiorillo

from press release

-- Jon Fiorillo, a former men's lacrosse goalie for The College at Brockport and recent hire as an assistant coach for the program, passed away yesterday.

Last season for the Golden Eagles, Fiorillo appeared in 10 games and started eight making a team-high 112 saves. He helped Brockport earn its first ever State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament appearance. In the SUNYAC Tournament game against Cortland, Fiorillo made 17 saves and was named a First-Team All-SUNYAC selection.

"Jon was a great lacrosse player who played with heart and determination, but more importantly he was an even better person. The program will miss him terribly both on and off the field" remarked Brockport Men's Lacrosse Coach, Ben Wineburg.

Before Brockport, Fiorillo played collegiately at Manhattan College, where he played in 14 games and started 13 finishing with a MAAC Conference leading 8.71 goals against average.

Prior to Manhattan College, he starred two seasons at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse leading the Lazers to an undefeated season and a NJCAA National Championship. He was named the NJCAA Goalie of the Year, National Defensive Player of the Year and a First-Team NJCAA All-American.

The Painted Post, NY native was a High School All-America selection playing for Corning West High School as he led the team to a sectional championship title.
