It has been a region starving for extra bids in the past, but the South feasted on the bids when the NCAA Men's Division III selection committee handed out its invitations on Sunday evening. Of the 10 spots up for grabs out of Pool B (independent) and Pool C (at-large), teams in the South region accounted for nine of them.

The valedictorian of the South region is undefeated Dickinson, which grabbed the lower bracket's top seed. Balancing the Red Devils will be Roanoke, which got the second slot in the Dixie bracket.

The North had a pair of byes, which went to clear-cut No. 1 Cortland along with RIT, which escaped a pair of Liberty League upset bids. The Red Dragons will likely have to contend with Nazareth in the quarterfinals while RIT is fated to a clash with Tufts.

Defending champion Salisbury was one of the five at-large selections, joining Washington College, Lynchburg and Washington & Lee in the South bracket. Stevens was the long Pool C entrant from the North.
