Live Blog: Stevenson and RIT Face Off

by LaxMagazine.com Staff | Twitter

It's an early treat for lacrosse fans, as Syracuse plays host to a pair of marquee contests on Saturday afternoon, the nightcap coming up featuring the NCAA Division III men's championship rematch between Stevenson and RIT (following the Maryland-Syracuse men's game earlier).

LM's resident DIII guru Jac Coyne had the following to say as part of our '10 2 Watch' weekend preview on this one:

"And here we are, once again. Eight months after their back-and-forth clash in Philadelphia that resulted in Stevenson's national championship, the top-ranked Mustangs and No. 2 RIT renew acquaintances, this time in Syracuse's Carrier Dome. Stevenson enters the game after barely escaping in overtime at home against York while the Tigers have been toiling in the snowbound north. Both teams have plenty returning from last year's squads to make one think this rematch will be just as exciting as the original. Fortunately, even with all the hype, the RIT lacrosse alumni group isn't taking a levelheaded approach to promoting the game."

(BTW - check out that graphic, it's a beaut.)

Stevenson is coming in having been taken to the limit in its season opener against York, which led late in the game before Glen Tompkins scored the equalizer in regulation and then the winner in overtime.

RIT has yet to play on the year, so whether or not Stevenson (which has seen a harsher than average winter for Maryland, to say the least) has an edge is a big question mark going in.

Tyler Piccott will be blogging this one live, so follow along and feel free to shoot him questions as the action unfolds in Upstate N.Y.
