In D-I, the No. 1 Arizona State Sun Devils continue to roll, beating rival No. 11 Arizona last Saturday, 11-7. The Sun Devils will host San Diego State this weekend followed by the No. 8 Grand Canyon Lopes on April 19.

The key to the Sun Devils success is their coaching and upperclassmen who account for their top five scorers. Senior Justin Straker (3.833 ppg), Junior Dan Davis (3.583 ppg), Senior Logan Quinn (3.500 ppg), Junior Cooper Pickell (3.083 ppg) and Junior Kyle Denis (2.417 ppg) have been key in keeping the Sun Devils undefeated. Another upperclassmen, Senior goalie Christian DeLuca has been a stonewall between the pipes, coming in with a 0.624 save percentage.

In D-II, the No.1 Dayton Flyers (11-1) have put themselves through the gauntlet this season which has given them a recipe for success. Starting in mid-March, the Flyers have faced seven straight Top 25 opponents, only losing to St. Thomas, 10-9. Dayton beat No. 16 Kennesaw State, No. 10 Indiana Tech, No. 13 SCAD, No. 2 North Dakota State, No. 3 St. Johns and No. 6 Grove City. All that remains in their path is a showdown on Wednesday with No. 14 Lourdes, a key CCLA South match-up (Ed. Note: Dayton took a 16-15 win over Lourdes in this contest).

Dayton is led by Adam Henlein (4 ppg), David Carlos (2.667 ppg) and Danny Windland (2.083 ppg). In goal, John Young has been keeping the Flyers in games with his stout play, registering a 0.637 save percentage.

Looking Back

No. 14 Cal Poly took down No. 15 Sonoma State last Sunday in a crucial WCLL game. It was a rough weekend for Sonoma State in general as they also lost to No. 2 Colorado on Friday.

No. 9 Boston College beat SUNY-Buffalo on Friday in overtime, 6-5.

No. 2 North Dakota State handing the No. 4 St. Thomas Tommies their second loss of the season on Saturday by the score of 12-9.

No. 18 Texas State picked up a huge win over No. 13 Texas on Tuesday, winning 12-7.

Looking Ahead

As the season winds down, the games become more and more meaningful. In the RMLC, No. 12 Westminster takes to the road to see if they can knock of No. 2 Colorado on Friday and No. 5 Colorado State on Saturday. The Griffins need to pick up a win to keep themselves on the tournament bubble.

In the PCLL, No. 16 Northeastern will look to keep their at-large bid hopes alive in a game against SUNY-Buffalo. The Bulls are just 5-3 but forced Boston College into overtime and lost to Pitt by 1 goal, so they shouldn't be taken lightly.

In the CCLA, No. 4 Michigan State and No. 20 Davenport will battle on Saturday for the No. 1 seed heading into the CCLA playoffs. The Spartans hold a 3-0 record over the Panthers all-time. In D-II, No. 6 Grove City will take on No. 14 Lourdes on Saturday.

In the SLC, No. 7 Grand Canyon takes to the road to face No. 11 Arizona in what should be a great game in the desert. Arizona could do themselves some favors if they can pull off a win.

In non-conference action, No. 13 Texas heads to the Pacific Northwest to take on No. 8 Simon Fraser on Sunday. A win for the Longhorns would help their chances for an at-large bid should the fall in the LSA playoffs.
