With Sunday's loss at Oregon, Johns Hopkins moved to 0-3 on the road this season, the past two coming against then-unranked teams. Fortunately for the Blue Jays, their next three games are at home ... This is what No. 1 and four-time defending champion Northwestern is capable of: a 24-1 shellacking of Rutgers on Saturday was the largest margin of victory for the Wildcats under head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, and the biggest since a 25-0 victory over Wisconsin in 1988... At 6-1, Ohio State is just two wins short of the best start in program history, an 8-1 opening run in 2002. To match that mark, the Buckeyes must top Duquesne on the road Sunday and California at home March 24 ... After consecutive heartbreaking losses against Virginia and Princeton by a combined three goals, Penn State faces two more top-10 teams this week - Penn (Wednesday) and Vanderbilt (Sunday)... Katherine Denkler notched her third consecutive hat trick in Vanderbilt's win Sunday at Cincinnati, giving her 11 goals in her past three games and a team-high 15 for the season.

-- Daniel Malloy

Duquesne set a program record for goals in a two-game span with 40. Ashley Wood was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after scoring seven goals in the Dukes' 20-10 win over Bucknell, then scored six goals and had a game-high four ground balls in a 20-6 win over Detroit Mercy. After four straight losses to open the season, Duquesne has won three straight... George Washington stopped its slow start with a familiar win over Mount St. Mary's. Mia Breheny scored three times in the first half as the Colonials rallied for a 14-5 win, its first of the season but sixth straight against Mount St. Mary's. GW is still surrendering nearly double the goals it scores in the first half of games... With its 10-9 win over Monmouth, La Salle has already eclipsed last year's win total and won back-to-back games for the first time since the opening pair of the 2007 season. The Explorers are unbeaten when they allow less than 10 goals and winless when they allow more than 10 goals... Richmond head coach Sue Murphy is hoping her team figures out how to close out games by the start of the conference schedule. The Spiders were tied with James Madison, 9-9, before the Dukes scored four straight to send Richmond to its sixth straight loss to open the year. Richmond has surrendered at least 14 goals in every contest... St. Joseph's has followed three straight wins with three straight losses, the last two coming by just one goal each. In the Hawks' latest defeat, a 6-5 loss, they held Drexel scoreless for more than 32 minutes, but could not rally... Molly Hastrich had her fourth straight game with at least four points to lead St. Bonaventure to an 11-10 comeback win over Binghamton. The junior attacker scored four goals for the Bonnies, who scored the final three goals of the game for their second straight win. It equals their longest winning streak since they won seven straight in 2007... Temple was victimized by back-to-back slow starts as it remained winless after five games. Albany scored the first eight goals Sunday, just four days after Towson scored the first four. The Owls played both Jessica Colucci and Tess Bishop in goal against Albany... Massachusetts' 14-9 win over Stony Brook matched former University of Maryland teammates Allison Comito and Alexis Venechanos, head coaches for SBU and UMass, respectively. Connecticut's top two players on draw controls have been Whitney Michele and M.E. Lapham. Each has won 18 draws. ... Georgetown (4-2) notched a key win over then-No. 3 Duke on Saturday. Sophomore attacker Jody Kirr went for three goals and three assists in the win ... Louisville (4-1) allowed seven unanswered goals in the second half of Saturday's home game with No. 19 Ohio State and lost, 15-12. Bergan Foley scored five goals... Loyola sophomore Cara Filippelli (not to be confused with Karen Filippelli of "The Office") was honored as the Big East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after keying the Greyhounds' 20-3 victory Sunday over Davidson. Filippelli had team highs of four ground balls and four caused turnovers... Notre Dame and Rutgers opened their Big East schedule Tuesday in South Bend, an 18-9 Irish victory... Syracuse senior Katie Rowan won the Big East Offensive Player of the Week award Monday after a 10-point effort against UConn, which vaulted her into the top spot as the Big East's all-time leading scorer. Despite a 16-12 loss to Notre Dame, James Madison broke into the rankings March 9, tying Stanford for the No. 16 spot. The Dukes posted a 14-11 win over Richmond, with a game-high three goals from Jaime Dardine. James Madison next hosts Princeton on Wednesday before traveling to Loyola... Old Dominion had a sweet 16 of a week, posting 16 points each in two wins. The Monarchs improved to 3-0, beating Richmond (16-13) and UMBC (16-10). Kelly Kimener was named CAA Player of the Week for her performance against UMBC. Kimener, the sister of former UMBC men's lacrosse standout Terry Kimener, had a career-high seven points (4g, 3a) and a career-high-tying five draws controls. Her offensive output pushed her into ODU's all-time top-10 list for points, goals and assists. The senior midfieder has scored 119 points on 88 goals and 31 assists in her career with the Monarchs. Kimener and company host No. 9 UNC next... Delaware went to the dogs last week, playing the Albany Great Danes and the UMBC Retrievers. St. Joe's drew no yellow cards in the matchup, but couldn't generate enough offense to slay the Dragons... George Mason fell to 2-3 after a loss to No. 12 Boston University. The Terriers, still smarting from a three-game losing streaking of their own, pounded the Colonials, 19-7, including a 10-0 run during the second half. Senior Brittany Berger (4g, 1a) led George Mason in scoring, despite a 13-save effort by BU goalie Rachel Klein. George Mason hosts DC-area rival Georgetown on Wednesday...  Hofstra took on two ranked opponents last week and fell to both. The details are telling, though. In a 20-6 loss to four-time defending champion and No. 1-ranked Northwestern, the only statistical bright spot was junior goalie Mary Cuddihy's 10 saves. Against No. 11 Notre Dame, the Pride came within striking distance. The Irish and the Pride traded goals for most of the first half, with Notre Dame gaining a 10-8 edge after the first period. But in the second half, Notre Dame broke out with a 5-2 run powered by Jill Byers' hat trick that put the game out of reach. Hofstra made a dogged effort to stay in the fight, but couldn't quite overtake the Irish. Cuddihy faired less well against Notre Dame - after nine saves against 14 goals with just 17:49 to play, Pride head coach Abby Morgan benched her in favor of freshman Jackie Pandolf, who completed the game with three goals allowed and two saves... Towson earns points for consistency, posting identical 13-7 scores in wins over Temple and GW. Freshman goalie Mary Teteers allowed just eight goals in 95 minutes in the cage... William & Mary shared the wealth in its 17-11 win at Cal. The Tribe had four players (Maggie Anderson, Grace Golden, Molly Wannen and Mary Zultry) post hat tricks, while Ashley Holofcener posted a team-high five points with two goals and three assists.
