Wills Tabbed for Denver's Assistant Position

from press release

– The University of Denver women's lacrosse team has promoted Devon Wills to assistant coach, head coach Liza Kelly announced today. Wills served as volunteer assistant during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

"Devon has done an incredible job as our volunteer assistant coach for the past two years, and we feel fortunate to have her remain on the staff as a full time coach," Kelly said. "She has proven herself as an outstanding coach, and we are excited to see how she helps us reach our future goals as a program."

Wills was promoted to assistant coach of the Pioneers in June 2010 after serving two years as a volunteer assistant coach. Wills moved back to Denver in October 2008 after two years spent coaching at her alma-mater, Dartmouth, where she served as defense and recruiting coordinator. While at Dartmouth, Wills founded the Dartmouth Winter Lacrosse Camp. Wills also has been a co-director of the Classic Elite Lacrosse Camps.

In June 2009, Wills helped lead the United States National Team to a championship at the Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic. Wills was named Player of the Match following the United States' 8-7 victory over Australia in the final game. Wills was also honored with the Women's Lacrosse Award from the Sportswomen of Colorado for the second time, also winning the award in 2006. Previously, Wills competed for the U.S. National Team and the 2008 Prague Touring Team.

During her time playing for Dartmouth from 2003-06, Wills was a three-time All-American and four-time All-Ivy League performer. In 2006, Wills led the NCAA in goals against average while leading the Big Green to the NCAA championship game. In 2003 Wills was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

Wills grew up in Denver. She attended high school at Colorado Academy, graduating in 2002.

Wills replaces Tara Singleton, who joined the coaching staff at Johns Hopkins in her native Baltimore, Md.
