Raymond Nets Four to Lead Towson Past ODU

NORFOLK, Va. – Sophomore attacker Andi Raymondscored four goals to lead the Towson University women's lacrosse team to a 9-7 win at Old Dominion on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (9-3, 3-0 CAA) won their third straight game as they outscored the Lady Monarchs 5-3 in the second half.

The Tigers opened the scoring for the second straight game with a goal from junior attacker Olivia Turner. The two teams alternated goals and found themselves tied at 2-2 with 9:30 remaining in the first half. Sophomore attacker Rhiannon Coogle scored on a free position shot at 8:33 to give the Tigers a 3-2 advantage. The Lady Monarchs (4-9, 1-2 CAA) scored the next two goals to take a 4-3 lead with four minutes remaining in the half.

Raymond scored her second goal of the game with 3:31 to play in the half which tied the game at 4-4.

Old Dominion out shot the Tigers 11-9 in the first half, despite the fact that the two teams were tied while the Tigers won six of the nine draw controls.

After the Lady Monarchs scored the first goal of the half to take a 5-4 lead, the Tigers responded with a pair of goals to take a 6-5 advantage with 19:33 remaining. Raymond and freshman attacker Taylor Moore scored the goals for the Tigers during that stretch.

Old Dominion tied the game at 6-6 with 17:25 remaining as Emily Austerberry notched her third goal of the game.

Moore put the Tigers back on top at 8:20 with her second goal of the game off an assist from senior attackerSarah Appelt. Junior midfielder Kelly Custer scored on a free-position attempt with 7:13 to play to give Towson an 8-6 lead. Rebecca Reymann scored with 3:46 to play and pulled ODU to within one, 8-7. Raymond scored her fourth goal of the game with 3:04 to play which helped Towson secure the 9-7 victory.

Senior goalkeeper Mary Teeters made six saves to earn the win in goal for the Tigers. Sarah Geary made six saves for Old Dominion in the loss.

Old Dominion finished the game with a 23-19 advantage in shots while the Tigers won 12 of the 18 draw controls in the game.

Raymond finished a career-high four goals while Moore had a pair of goals. Custer added a goal and an assist for the Tiger attack. Austerberry led ODU with the three goals while Rebecca Hartrum had two goals and an assist.

The Tigers return home on Friday, Apr. 13 to host Hofstra at 7 p.m.
