Denver Women Earn Cold, Wet Win at Winthrop

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- University of Denver senior Meredith Harris (Middleburg, Va.) racked up six points off four goals and two assists to lead the Pioneers to a 16-9 win at Winthrop on Monday morning.

Junior Rachael Dillon (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) opened the DU scoring just 1:28 into the game off a free position shot. Denver (5-1) opened up a 4-0 lead over Winthrop (2-5) with 19:22 left in the first half.

"It was a cold, wet game, but we're happy to leave with a win," said head coach Liza Kelly. "Meredith and Jill are leading our team offensively with their one-two punch of goals and assists."

Harris recorded seven shots, placing four on goal. Harris went two-for-three on free position shots, including a caused turnover.

Additionally, junior Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, Md.) recorded six points off three goals and three assists. Remenapp also recorded three draw controls and a groundball against the Eagles.

Defensively, senior Sonorah Vinyard (Denver, Colo.) secured four draw controls, while senior Annabelle Gilbride (Alexandria, Va.), redshirt junior Hannah Hook(Arnold, Md.) and freshman Layne Voorhees (Alexandria, Va.) each had two caused turnovers.

Denver converted five-of-six clear attempts and recorded 16 draw controls in the game. Additionally, DU had eight groundballs against Winthrop.
