IWLCA Announces Division I All-Americans

The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association has honored 51 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on the All-America teams for 2011, in addition to naming the positional players of the year. The IWLCA will honor the national All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 11 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

Maryland led the way with five All-Americans, followed by Northwestern and North Carolina with four each. Maryland and Northwestern players split the positional player of the year awards. The Terps' Katie Schwarzmann and Brittany Dipper were named IWLCA midfielder and goalkeeper of the year, respectively. The Wildcats' Shannon Smith and Taylor Thornton were named the IWLCA attacker and defender of the year, respectively.
