Bauer Powers Le Moyne to Big Win in Opener

Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior attacker Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton)recorded six points to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 16-3 win over Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday at Ted Grant Court.

The Dolphins got on the scoreboard just 26 seconds into the contest as junior attackerKathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) finished off a pass from freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Armstrong (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego). Bauer picked up her first point of the day by feeding classmate Gabrielle Kamide (Deferiet, N.Y./Carthage) at the 27:09 mark. Just 18 seconds later, junior midfielder Jennifer Fabian (Clay, N.Y./C.W. Baker) recorded an unassisted goal.

After junior defender Megan Collins (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) caused a turnover, freshman defender Emily Barron (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) raced up field and finished off a pass from Conese to give the Dolphins a 4-0 lead with 25:04 remaining. Armstrong recorded her second assist of the day 25 seconds later as senior attacker Kelly Condon (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) found the back of the net.

Bauer had a hand in each of Le Moyne's next four goals. She scored her first goal of the season with 21:48 left in the first half off a pass from Condon. Just under two minutes later, she found the back of the net for the 100th time of her career after taking a pass from freshman attacker Claire Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker). Bauer and Monnat traded roles two minutes later as the Dolphins increased their lead to 8-0. Bauer then capped the spurt by recording an unassisted goal with 13:54 remaining.

Following a free-position goal by Ali Fox with 13:30 remaining to get the Redhawks on the scoreboard, the Dolphins scored the final three goals of the first half. Kamide netted her second goal of the day off a pass from freshman attacker Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker). With 5:03 remaining, Conese converted a free-position shot for a 10-goal lead, while sophomore attacker Sam Yaro (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) ended the half's scoring with an unassisted tally with 1:43 remaining.

As she did in the first half, Conese started the scoring in the second half by finishing off a feed from Condon just 14 seconds into the stanza.

Roberts Wesleyan scored two of the game's next three goals over a stretch of five and one-half minutes. Loren Dunn netted Roberts Wesleyan's second goal of the day off a free-position shot at the 26:27 mark. After Conese posted her fourth goal of the day off a pass from Fabian, Vanessa Sell scored after taking a feed from Billie Jo Marr.

Following 15 and one-half minutes of scoreless action, Kamide recorded her third goal of the game after taking a pass from Bauer. Freshman midfielder Mary Fadden(Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) finished the game's scoring with 1:08 remaining off a pass from Kamide, who picked up a ground ball after causing a turnover.

Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Marbut (Edgewater, Md./South River) earned the win between the pipes in her first career start after registering 11 saves. Victoria Link suffered her first career loss after yielding 10 goals in 18:53 of action.

Le Moyne (1-0), which has won 15 straight regular season home games, returns to action on Monday, March 4 at sixth-ranked Limestone at 3:30 p.m.
