from press release

LAKELAND, Fla. – On what was a rainy evening in Lakeland, No. 4 Rollins bested the 11th ranked Florida Southern Moccasins, 12-10. With the win, the Tars improve to 8-1 on the season while FSC falls to 9-2.

Junior Caroline Lamere recorded a hat trick to lead all scorers on Wednesday while Mo Imel added two goals to go along with a pair of assists.

It was a back-and-fourth first half with six lead changes and neither team holding more than a one-goal advantage.

The Mocs scored the first goal of the game twenty-eight seconds in but Imel responded with an unassisted score thirty-two seconds later before assisting on Lamere's first of the night shortly after to give Rollins their first lead at 2-1.

Florida Southern added the next two goals regain the one-goal lead at 3-2 before an off-balanced diving shot by Ginevra Czech knotting things up again at three apiece.

The Mocs would again break the tie, taking a 4-3 lead but the Tars punched back with goals from Chelsea Pinneke and Taylor Thomas to reclaim the lead at 5-4.

Unfortunatley for Rollins, FSC kept swinging as well, answering the two unanswered from Rollins with two of their own to take the 6-5 lead into the half.

The Mocs extended their lead to 7-5 with a score twenty-nine seconds into the second period before the Tars responded with an offensive flurry, netting five of the next six goals. Ty. Thomas, Imel, Lamere, Courtney Bianculli, and Jamie Wadovick were in on the scoring barrage to recapture the lead at 10-8.

The teams traded a pair of goals each the rest of the way, Tars scores from Sophie Townsend and Lamere's third score of the night, to end in a 12-10 final.

Rollins goalkeeper Elyse De Lisle raked in seven saves on the evening.

The Tars outshot the Mocs, 26-20, and scooped up eight more ground balls, recording 25 compared to 17 from FSC.
