Tierney Steps Down as Lebanon Valley Women's Coach

from press release

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College women's lacrosse head coach Brianne Tierney will step down from her position on July 12, director of athletics Rick Beard '90 M'92 has announced.

Tierney, the 2012 Commonwealth Conference Coach of the Year, re-established LVC's women's program in 2010 and has turned the Dutchmen into winners, with consecutive postseason appearances in 2011 and 2012. A search will begin immediately for Tierney's successor.

"I want to thank Brianne for her exceptional work in building our women's lacrosse program over the past three years," Beard said. "Her hard work and leadership has helped our student-athletes quickly become successful both on and off the field. I wish her all the best as she moves on to future opportunities."

Over the past three seasons, Tierney has had a 23-24 record, including a 9-8 campaign in 2012 that saw LVC make the Commonwealth Conference tournament as well as its first-ever ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship appearance. Since 2010, her student-athletes have earned two IWLCA all-region awards, seven all-conference honors, and 14 MAC Academic Honor Roll spots.

The team's 2012 performance earned her coach of the year honors, and Hana Krechel was the program's first-ever conference player of the year.

"A big thank you to President MacDonald, Greg Krikorian, and Rick Beard for bringing me to Lebanon Valley to revive the women's lacrosse program," Tierney said.

"The student-athletes, coaches, and Lebanon Valley College all mean a tremendous amount to me and I am so grateful to have been a part of such a special College. The foundation is in place for the team to succeed for years to come and I look forward to following their accomplishments closely. In adding a turf field and the incoming freshmen talent to a team that is returning all of its 2012 players, the pieces are there for Lebanon Valley Lacrosse to turn a corner in 2013."
