Oneonta Rallies Late, Upends No. 11 Hamilton

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team scored the final four goals in a 16-13 victory against No. 11 Hamilton College today at home. Senior Caroline Tulley (Malverne/Sacred Heart Academy) paced Oneonta (4-1) again today with four goals and two assists. Tulley currently leads the Red Dragons with 21 goals and 10 assists thus far averaging over six points per contest.

Hamilton (3-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the game before Oneonta countered with three straight to take its first lead of the day.

Junior Lauren Brady tied the game with her second goal of the game before Oneonta ran off four unanswered to take a 7-3 lead with just over nine minutes remaining in the half. Tulley had two of the four goals while junior Casey Sarle (West Islip/West Islip) and sophomore Jillian Donodeo (Holbrook/Sachem East) each had one goal.

The two squads traded goals over the next minute before Hamilton scored four consecutive goals to knot the game at 8-8 with 3:07 left in the opening half. Freshman Caroline McCarthy tallied a pair during the run.

The two teams went into halftime tied at nine apiece, as senior Rachel Friedman scored a goal for Hamilton with three seconds on the clock.

In the second half, the two teams continued to trade goals until the Red Dragons' closing run to secure the well deserved win.

Sophomore Kiera McNally (East Northport/Northport) matched Tulley's goal output with four of her own. Junior Chelsea Collins (St. James/Smithtown East) added a team high three assists to go with a goal.

Oneonta goalie Laura Grose (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) made six saves in picking up her fourth win of the season. Kari Koga made 10 saves in goal for the Continentals in dropping her first game of the season.

Oneonta will be at No. 17 St. John Fisher this Saturday for a non-conference game beginning at 2pm. The Red Dragons will then leave Sunday for Florida where they will play a pair of games next week on Monday and Wednesday.
