Nike/LM WCLA Division I Preseason Top 20

by Lacrosse Magazine Staff | | Twitter

With five straight appearances in the national tournament, Texas is no stranger to the big stage, and after losing to Michigan by three goals in the 2015 semifinals, the Longhorns may be ready for a title run this spring. With four returning All-Americans, including Katie Walker in goal and Ina Prevalsky on attack, Texas has been pegged as the No. 1 ranked team in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Top 20.

Another perennial postseason qualifier, Georgia, begins the season ranked second. The Bulldogs have reached the national quarterfinals in each of the past two seasons. UCLA, with back-to-back final four appearances and one of the favorites in the Western Women's Lacrosse League, is ranked third.

Defending national champion Michigan is No. 4, but must overcome the loss of player of the year Katie Mezwa. Virginia Tech, last year's national runner-up, rounds out the preseason top five.
