LM Fan-Tasy High School Championships: Boys Final

Since there is no nationwide high school championship tournament played on the field, Lacrosse Magazine decided to hand over a fantasy bracket to you, the fans.

We narrowed the boys' and girls' fields to eight teams, keeping geographic diversity in mind - the brackets include the champions from five regions (Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, South and West) and three at-large teams, based on LM's national rankings.

First-round and semifinal voting ran last week (full results above), and you advanced Calvert Hall (Md.) and Gonzaga (D.C.) to this week's championship. Calvert Hall defeated West Islip (N.Y.) and Gonzaga beat Culver Military Academy (Ind.) in fan voting.

The team with the highest percentage of votes will be Lacrosse Magazine's 2012 Fan-Tasy High School boys champion. Vote below and please give a reason for your pick in the comment section. Some of these could wind up in the August, high school season wrap issue of LM.

Voting ends at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, June 27.

No. 2 Calvert Hall (Md.) Cardinals (16-2)

No. 4 Gonzaga (D.C.) Purple Eagles (20-1)

  • LM National Rank:2
  • LM Mid-Atlantic Regional Rank: 1

The Cardinals made a statement in their season-ending 17-3 win over Loyola Blakefield (Md.) in the MIAA A Conference championship game. It was Calvert Hall's first MIAA crown since 2003.

  • LM National Rank: 4
  • LM Mid-Atlantic Regional Rank: 2

Gonzaga claimed its third straight WCAC championship with a 10-3 win over DeMatha. The Eagles closed the year with 14 straight wins.

Thanks for voting in Lacrosse Magazine's Fan-Tasy High School Championships. Check back to LaxMagazine.com on Thursday for the results, and look for a complete high school wrap in the August issue of LM.
