Eighth-grader Victoria Kotowski, already in her second varsity season, had 12 goals in three games for Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) and is LM's Northeast Region Player of the Week.

The eighth-grader enjoyed a memorable season-opening week to mark the beginning of her second varsity season. Kotowski, an attack/midfielder, had 12 goals and three assists in three games: wins against Clarke (16-1) and Floral Park (16-4) and a loss to Wantagh (19-11).

Northeast Region Top 10

1. Garden City (N.Y.) – 2-0 – The Trojans officially started their quest for a sixth straight Class B state championship with a pair of season-opening wins.

2. Shoreham-Wading River (N.Y.) – 0-0 – Attack Codi Mullen leads the Wildcats' quest for a fifth straight state title.

3. St. Anthony's (N.Y.) – 0-0 – The Friars are bolstered by a dominant defense that's led by Shana Brady, who has committed to Maryland.

4. Loomis Chafee (Conn.) – 0-0 –The Pelicans are in pursuit of a fourth straight Founders League title.

5. Farmingdale (N.Y.) – 0-1 – The Dalers faced the ultimate test in their opening, but fell 17-11 to Garden City.

6. Rocky Point (N.Y.) – 0-0 – The Eagles are eyeing a second straight Suffolk County Class B championships.

7. Westwood (Mass.) – 0-0 – Led by Hopkins-bound midfielder Sarah Biron, the Wolverines hope to win their third state title in the last four years.

8. Canandaigua (N.Y.) – 0-0 – The Braves fell 16-15 to the dynastic Garden City Trojans in the state tournament last year.

9. Framingham (Mass.) – 0-0 – The Flyers stunned Westwood in the postseason last year to avenge for a regular-season setback.

10. Lakeland/Panas (N.Y.) – 0-0 – The Rebels ended the 2010 season with three straight one-goal games, with the final one being a 6-5 loss to Farmingdale in the state final.

Game of the Week

No. 1 Garden City (N.Y.) at No. 3 St. Anthony's (N.Y.) – Saturday 12 p.m.
This is an intriguing matchup of two of the top teams Long Island has to offer. St. Anthony's, which allowed seven goals or less in each of its final five games, will be looking to contain All-Americans Caroline Tarzian (attack) and Mikaela Rix (midfield).
