Player of the Week

Molly Malone, Ossining, N.Y.
The sophomore midfielder more than doubled her previous career-high with 13 goals in a 21-13 win against Sleepy Hollow. The 13 goals were tied for second-most in school history in a girls' varsity game. The state record for goals in a game is 15.

Northeast Region Top 10

1. Garden City (N.Y.) - 11-0 - Mikaela Rix had five goals and an assist in an 18-5 win against Darien (Conn.).

2. Farmingdale (N.Y.) - 9-1: Kimberly Kolodny had a combined 11 goals and two assists in back-to-back wins against Baldwin (N.Y.) and Long Beach (N.Y.).

3. West Genesee (N.Y.) - 10-0 -  Emily Tripodi had five goals and seven assists, Erica Geremia added six goals and an assist and Katie Hart three goals and five assists in an 18-7 win over Christian Brothers Academy (N.Y.).

4. St. Anthony's (N.Y.) - 7-1 - A 14-8 loss to Maryland power McDonogh ended the Friars' seven-game win streak.

5. Northport (N.Y.) - 9-1 - Cortney Fortunato registered four goals and six assists in a 22-5 win at Commack (N.Y.).

6. Fox Lane (N.Y.) - 11-0 - Lindsey Toppe hit the 60-goal mark for the season last week.

7. Wantagh (N.Y.) - 9-2 - The Warriors will take on No. 1 Garden City (N.Y.) on May 10.

8. Westwood (Mass.) - 10-0 - Laura McHoul had six goals in a 20-5 win over Medway (Mass.).

9. Londonderry (N.H.) - 7-0 - Jenny Thompson, Leah Walters and Julia Wasserman each scored four goals in a 21-3 win over Nashua North (N.H.).

10. Wilton (Conn.) - 8-1 - The Warriors have won five straight since falling to Greenwich Academy (Conn.) 9-8.

Game of the Week

No. 1 Garden City (N.Y.) at Manhasset (N.Y.) – Wednesday, May 4, 4:30 p.m.
Just like when the boys' teams from the schools play, it's always a much-awaited and well-played contest when the girls teams play. This year's game should be no exception. The top-ranked Trojans have won five straight state titles. Manhasset, which last beat Garden City in 2009 (in overtime), has won five straight this season.

Hauppauge (N.Y.) improved to 10-0 with a 16-5 win at Rocky Point (N.Y.). Taylor Ranftle had eight points, including five, and Jennifer Porretto had seven points, including four goals... Keri Gould had five goals and three assists for Duxbury (Mass.) in a 13-4 win against Sandwich (Mass.)... Taylor Moore is now the all-time leading goal scorer in North Rockland (N.Y.) history. She netted her 219th goal in a 13-6 victory against Minisink Valley (N.Y.) to break the school record of 218. ...
