Mammoth Rebuilding Continues with Signings

from press release

DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth announced today the signing of five additional acquisitions for the 2011 season. The Mammoth welcomes back veteran transition master, Nenad Gajic, while adding forwards Craig Conn and Mike McLellan. Goalies Rob Blasdell and Matt King will also be new additions to the Colorado locker room in 2011. The contracts for Conn, McLellan and Blasdell are pending league approval.

Both Gajic and Conn will be returning to NLL action following injury-riddled seasons in 2010. "I have always admired Craig's game," said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley. "He has been a winner at every level and I think he is starting to get back to where he was before his knee injury. Nenad is the same. The 2010 Mammoth really missed the level of play that we are accustomed to from him due to injuries, but after a great summer, I think he is ready to have a great season."

Conn put up 44 goals and 23 assists in 2006 while playing for the Arizona Sting. Bob Hamley was at the helm of that team as well.

McLellan is coming off a productive year for the Orlando Titans scoring 22 goals on just 56 shots on goal. "McLellan is a natural fit for our squad," said Hamley. "He doesn't need to have the ball in his stick a lot to be able to score. He is so great as an off-ball player that when he does get the ball, he is usually wide open, right in front of the net, ready to score."

With the Mammoth adding Blasdell and King to the goaltender mix, the battle for Colorado's starter should be a competitive contest. Blasdell has been in the league for 13 seasons, winning the Goalie of the Year honors in 2002. King, who has been in the league since 2002 boasts a 0.73 career save percentage. "By bringing in four really talented, experienced guys at goalie, we are looking to have a really competitive camp," said Hamley.

Mammoth team camp will be held November 19-21 in Denver. Colorado will host the Toronto Rock in preseason action at Pepsi Center on Saturday, December 4. The Mammoth's 2011 regular season opener is Saturday, January 8th against the defending NLL champion Washington Stealth.
