Toronto, Colorado Trim Rosters

from press releases

TORONTO -- The Toronto Rock has made its first roster moves in preparation for the 2011 National Lacrosse League season.

Rock veterans Josh Wasson, Brendon Doran and Anthony Lackey have been released along with Pat Saunders who was on the Rock practice roster in 2010.

Also being released were 2009 draft pick Damon Edwards along with free agent camp signee Andrew Potter.

The moves leave 27 active players in camp as Pat Maddalena remains on the injured reserve list after sustaining a knee injury in Toronto's exhibition win over Colorado earlier in the month.

The Rock needs to cut down to an active roster of 23 players with three players placed on the practice roster by Dec. 23.

With Pat Campbell and Gee Nash in camp competing for an active roster spot behind starter Bob Watson, the Rock still have three netminders in the mix.

The Rock will open up their regular season on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. when the Edmonton Rush visit the Air Canada Centre.

DENVER -- The Colorado Mammoth announced today that the team has released three players to reduce its roster size to 27 in preparation for the 2011 season.

Veteran forward Craig Conn has been released, along with defensemen Ryan McFadyen and John Rae. Conn has been in the league since 2004 and played for the Calgary Roughnecks last season. McFadyen, Colorado's fourth-round selection in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft, appeared in eight games in his rookie year in 2010 and led the team with 52 penalty minutes. Rae was selected 42nd overall (5th round) in the 2010 entry draft three months ago.

"All three players battled hard and their effort is greatly appreciated," said Mammoth President & General Manager Steve Govett. "This was an extremely difficult decision, and we have more tough choices to make in the days ahead."
NLL teams must trim their active rosters down to 23 players by next Thursday, December 23rd.
